Elms continues to expand

2017 has seen Elms expanded again with Dan, Will and George joining the team.  Dan has joined us following a career change.  Will has moved over from a garden centre role and George is working part time for Elms whilst studying horticulture at Edinburgh University.

 

Sureset

Elms applied to become an approved installer for resin bound manufacturer Sureset in 2017.  After a rigorous approval process we have been approved.  Elms is now the only approved installer in the Leicestershire and Lincolnshire area.

 

Association of Professional Landscapers

Elms applied and was successful in becoming accredited to the APL in 2016.  The APL is at the forefront of developing and maintaining professional standards and services, providing clients with the confidence you need when choosing a landscaper.

 

Bradstone Accredited Installers

In May 2016 we were approached by the landscape product manufacturer Bradstone to become an accredited installer for their products.  After several meetings and a vetting process I am pleased to say that we passed and are now accredited installers of Bradstone.

 

Marshalls Accredited Installers

In May 2016 we were approached by the landscape product manufacturer Marshalls to become an accredited installer for their products.   After several meetings and a vetting process I am pleased to say that we passed and are now accredited installers of Marshalls.

 

Wildflower Turf

In April 2016 David attend a training course at the headquarters of the Wildflower Turf company to become an accredited installer.

The training was very informative and we are now able to supply and install wild flower areas to gardens, grounds, open spaces etc.

 

Bumblebee Conservation Trust

Working in partnership with the Wildflower Turf Company is the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. As an accredited installer for Wildflower Turf we also become members of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. The Trust was established because of serious concerns about the plight of the bumblebee. In the last 80 years our bumblebee populatgions have crashed. Two species have become nationally extinct and several others have declined dramatically.

 

Garden Design Software

As a company we have taken the decision to invest in a computer aided garden design software package. This very exciting piece of software called Vectorworks will enable Louise to produce garden designs with 3D imagery , garden walk throughs, scaled construction drawings and many other really cool features.

 

Additional Vehicles

Elms now have 4 vehicles on the road to assist our growing team.

 

Trailer Licence

In July Matt and Terry undertook their trailer licence training and we are pleased to report that they both passed.

 

New Start ... Elms grows in size

At the beginning of 2016 Elms grow in size by 2 team members. Andy Rudkin and Gary Crockett joined the expanding company. Andy has come from a commercial and domestic maintenance background and Gary a qualified tree surgeon. With these new team members Elms are now able to offer a wider range of services to our clients both new and existing.

 

New Equipment

We have invested in a power box rake to enable us to offer additional services to our clients. Full details can be found on our commercial page.

 

DIY SOS - Big Build

Following an emotional interview by John Borge, Army Veteran on morning breakfast television, we decided to take up the call from the DIY SOS Team and Adam Frost by volunteering for their most ambitious project to date in Manchester.

 

The DIY SOS Team has transformed 2 derelict streets in Newton Heath, Manchester into a community for Army veterans and their families. In addition they have created a drop in centre supported by the charity Walking with the Wounded providing therapy and counselling at the advice centre, with training and employment opportunities also on offer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bill Leaves

In August we said goodbye to Bill. Bill decided it was time to travel the world. So with a group of friends off he went. His aim was to finish his travels in New Zealand. We wish him every success on the this great adventure.

 

25th Anniversary

A landmark moment in the history of Elms Landscapes as we have been trading for 25 years this year! David started the business in 1989 with his father John and brother Richard. In 2000 John retired from the management side of the business and Richard decided that he wanted to pursue a career in Personnel Management so Louise (David's wife) took over the reins of the office and the rest as they say is history!

 

Congratulations to Matt and Bill

Matt and Bill recently attended Brooksby Melton College and have gained their NPTC Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of

Pesticides - PA1 and PA6/A. Bill has also gained his Water Course spraying licence. So watch out for the two of them

 in their spraying suits!!

 

 

 

 

Terry has returned!

Terry has returned to Elms after a 10 year career direction change. Upon leaving school at the age of 16 years he starting working for Elms, whilst studying horticulture at Brooksby Melton College, but decided after 5 years that he wanted to try a different career. He has now made the decision that landscaping and horticulture is his long term career and we are very pleased to see him back.

We currently have a vacancy for a Trainee to join our expanding team. As a trainee you will be taught all aspects of landscape gardening and horticulture. You will learn how to lay patios, construct walling and fencing, build wooden structure, plant trees and shrubs, prune trees and shrubs, maintain borders, cut grass, cut hedges and apply turf care. Meet the newest member of the team - John Deere Compact Tractor 1026R. With this new piece of equipment Elms now have the ability to cut grass areas up to 10 acres, cut and top paddocks and undertake large scale snow clearing.

DIY SOS Big Build for Children in Need

In September the team took part in the Big Build in Peterborough in aid of Children in Need.

The project was for ‘Little Miracles’ based in Peterborough.  Little Miracles is a parent led support group and Charity for

families that have children with additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions.

 

The Big Build was to create a purpose build drop in centre and gardens.  This was the largest project the DIY team had ever

undertaken.

Children in Need.The project was for ‘Little Miracles’ based in Peterborough.

Little Miracles is a parent led support group and Charity for families that have

children with additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions.

 

The Big Build was to create a purpose build drop in centre and gardens.

This was the largest project the DIY team had ever undertaken.
